A coalition of environmental groups and charities is asking for the creation of a National Nature Service, according to a report by Damian Carrington in the Guardian yesterday.
The organisations include National Parks England, the RSPB, the Wildlife Trusts, the Woodland Trust, WWF, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and the Nature-Friendly Farming Network.
The National Nature Service would deliver projects including flower meadows, ‘tiny forests’ and natural flood prevention methods on hills.
It would create thousands of jobs, and help tackle our wildlife and climate crises. Woodland, heaths, peatland, marshes and rivers would all be enhanced.
